The DITI Exam

Preparing for the Exam

  1. Prior to the exam, avoid using lotions, powders, perfumes or deodorants.

  2. Please remove jewelry, watches, glasses and other items from areas that will be scanned.

  3. For scans that involve the head and neck, bring clips to prevent hair from falling on the face and neck. For breast scans, women with long hair should wear the hair up off the neck.

  4. No smoking vigorous exercise, sauna use, niacin (vitamin B-3), spicy foods or any other factors that may affect blood circulation for at least 3 hours before the exam.

  5. Please note: If you are a nursing mother, it is recommended that you wait for three months after weaning before getting a scan

During the Exam

  1. The length of your appointment will depend upon the type of scan. Breast scans and region of interest scans requiring 4 – 7 images take approximately 15 minutes. Full body scans can take up to an hour to complete.

  2. You will be asked to fill out medical history and release forms prior to the exam. These forms are completed in the exam room after you have changed into your medical gown. During this time, your body will equilibrate (adjust to room temperature).

  3. A digital camera is used for the non-invasive and pain-free scans. There is no radiation or physical contact between the client and thermographer.

  4. You will be working with Picture Your Health™ thermographers certified by The American College of Clinical Thermographers (ACCT).

  5. Your images will be sent electronically to a thermologist (a medical doctor specially trained in DITI) who will interpret the images. Within 7 -10 days, the thermologist will send you and/or your health professional a report of findings including any recommendations for follow-up. Urgent results can be requested at an additional fee.
